Hiya Everyone!!!

So, the year is coming to a close and I'm sure I'm not the only one counting down the days until they go home. :) I hope many of you will be going somewhere far from the Swine Flu, but for others (like me) who live close to an area that has been infected (not to mention being right across the border! >.<) I want to pass some info on how to avoid the flu. I'm sure you have all heard it, but it won't hurt to hear it again. I also want to talk about what I have done since my last post and a few things that are coming up before we leave.
Let's get the swine flu out of the way! Here are ways to prevent it:
1. Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.
2. Cough or sneeze into a tissue and then throw it away.
3. Wash your hands often- using soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and 15-20 seconds of scrubbing.
4. Clean things that are touched often, including telephones, keyboards, door handles, and sink handles.
5. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
6. Stay home when you have flu symptoms, and see your physician as needed (within the first 24-48 hours if classic flu symptoms develop as treatment is available). OMT has been shown in some studies to reduce problems and even the risk of death in flu and pneumonia- so be sure to consult your DO!
7. Stay healthy: get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, avoid smoking, consider pneumonia vaccine if at risk, and eat nutritious food to prevent disease.
8. Get a flu shot annually! (though this likely will not prevent swine flu)
And if you have anymore questions or want updates go to:

Moving on to happier things! So, the beginning of this week was pretty busy. I had many papers due, which I finished ^^, and another concert! This time I saw Hey Monday, Metro Station, All Time Low, Cobra Starship and Fall Out Boy! It was an amazing concert! With all the bands they didn't play as many songs as I wanted them to sing, but it was still amazing! I went with my roommate Erika and out two friends Ellen and Chris. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of us, but I have plenty of the bands I will post. Then last night was another Kiosk Concert with The Interracials and Wet Screams. Both are bands that came from the Assissi 3rd (YAY!!!) It was a really good time. The turnout wasn't as big as the first concert, but fun all in all. I encourage everyone to attend next year’s concerts! ^^

There isn't a lot going other than finals, but there are a few things. The last ballroom class was tonight at 3pm, so I hope that all those that went had a good time! ^^ Also if you didn't participate in Swoop Day yesterday, don't worry! There will be another on Sunday! Go through your stuff and unload some of the things you don't need or want so you don't have to worry about taking them home. It's for a great cause! ^^

Well, that is all for now! I hope everyone is studying, but not too hard. Remember to relax too! It's almost over so take the time to enjoy the last few days! I have only a couple more posts so look out for them (actually maybe only one more >.<). You know the drill about comments and topics!

Merry Meet and Farewell for now!!!

      Hiya Everyone!!!

12 days and counting!!! That's how long until I go home! Whew! I can't believe my first year of college is coming to a close. It definitely flew fast! Much faster than I thought it would. But that is another story. Today I want to focus on the awesome concerts that have occurred in the last two days. First I want to talk about my concert on Friday, then today's Spring concert!

Last night I attended The All American Rejects (AAR), Shiny Toy Guns (STG) and The Overflow (I think that is the name of the last band, they didn't introduce themselves >.<). It was AMAZING!!!! The venue, Hampton Beach Ballroom, is really small and a great place for concerts. I had been there previously for a concert last year. We arrived early and had to stand in line, which kinda sucked, but it allowed us to be able to get really good spots (as you will see later in the pics ^^). It was standing room only, which I like best. We stood for an hour before the concert started. Meanwhile, I played on the internet with my phone to pass the time. We also talked to a girl we had seen at our last concert. It was awesome to know someone else. We all had a great time. ^^ At 7:30 the lights when out and everything started. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed by the first band, but they weren't terrible. During their performance the lead singer sang "Happy Birthday" to Tyson, the lead singer of AAR. He came out and gave him a hug, which was pretty cool. :) They sang about 5 songs and were off. Next was STG. I had known some of their songs and decided to learn the rest of their songs about two weeks before the concert. They were awesome live! The new female singer (yes, their third) did a great job! She was so energetic and enthusiastic on stage. She really made this part of the concert for me. I was sad when they had to leave, but quickly moved on when AAR came out. They were also very energetic. When I would try to take a video it was difficult because they make the crowd move so much. The floor was moving up and down!!! There was a short bit for Tyson's birthday. He was turning 25 and they brought him champagne (I think), a birthday cake and a tiara to wear. They start with new songs and throughout alternated between new and old songs (They even went as far as to sing Paper Heart and Swing, Swing!!) After the show they came out and gave all kinds of free things out. I had already left the area, so I wasn't able to get anything (T.T) but it was fun watching them give things to others. It was an awesome concert and I would love to see them live again!

(Tyson up and close ^^)

After a long night I woke up dehydrated with a head ache and went to another concert! In may family we would say a phase in this situation: That is the way it is done! Meaning: You party long and hard, but get up in the morning to get stuff done. ^^ After breakfast I did my laundry and went to the Spring Concert. I was there nice and early to be able to receive the free stuff, which included a water bottle, a shirt, a "chia" pet and all kinds of free treats. I was there the entire time, and was able to take many pictures. The bands were all very good! I was especially impressed by Just Surrender and Rehab. They were all very energetic and fun! I wouldn't mind seeing them again. ^^

      Hiya everyone!!!

So, this weekend has been rather busy and fun! Today's blog it’s going to be rather short, but there will be pictures! ^^

Yesterday's big event was UNE Day. There were hundreds of families where with potential students!! ^^ I helped with admissions and also did a few odd jobs. I was much more excited about doing the work when I got there than I thought I would the night before. I think the only sucky part was waking up at 8am to work at 9am. T^T But I quickly forgot about as I worked. I hope that we made a good impression and that I will have many of them as my residents in Feathermen next year! XD

(I got a little bored at the end of the day >.< It spells UNE)

Today was much more relaxing. I got up to do some homework and have brunch. (Mmm, brunch XD ) Then I went to my friend, Matt, birthday party we had outside next to Avila and Assissi. His dad made some awesome burgers and hot dogs and his mom made this amazingly rich cheesecake! (I'm drooling just thinking about how good it was!) The afternoon was filled with jokes and laughter! Then my friend Becca and I watched the rest of the soft ball game. We rooted for our team (especially when our RA was up to bat) and though they lost it was a good game. She told us later that they had been playing against the best in the league, which made sense when she told us. It was fun to watch a UNE game, though the breeze made it very uncomfortable. >.<

(Here she is again, preparing to run)

Tonight is the last APB movie, Revolutionary Road. I will be there, mainly for the free food! But there none the less. I hope to see many of you there tonight :) This week I will be sure to give updates about what is coming up in our last full week of school! (I'm so excited!!!!) Start studying, but don't forget to relax! If I didn't bring attention to something, please post a comment and I will get to it in my next blog!

      Hiya again everyone!!!

I hope your week has been eventful (I know mine has). I want to talk about the plays and what is going to be going on this weekend. If you didn't make it to the plays, its ok, but you seriously missed out!!!

***WARNING*** If you find the word or discussion of the vagina offensive you are going to want to skip to the end!!! (Mainly just after the Vagina Monologue part) But I challenge you to read through and even comment at the end.

Let's starting with the Vagina Monologues. I attending the second showing on Thursday, the 16th. I wasn't sure about attending, because I felt it may be awkward (which it was at first). But soon I was surrounded by friends and I felt more at peace. They had a basket for donations, free Luna Bars and chocolate mold vagina's you could buy for $2. This money was collected and donated to the VDay campaign to help women (I think she said in Africa). As I said, the beginning was awkward because I have never heard the word "vagina" so many times in such a short period. (DARN! I should have counted the number of times they said vagina! >.<) Though as time went on I felt included, especially because I could relate to the monologues. I felt like my story was being told in a sense. It felt good to have such a connection with so many people. I honestly believe that I came out a different person! I think differently about myself. ^^
Now, for a bit of discussion. I found that throughout the play there was a theme (duh, its a play). I know there were many other themes, but I want to focus on one in particular. The actors kept bringing up how different and special women and their vaginas are, but how often people put it/us down in so many ways. This is why this play was so awkward at first. Girls and women are taught to ignore their vaginas and forget it is there. As the actors kept saying, many women that were originally interviewed didn't pay attention to their vaginas and many had never really looked at themselves. I'm sure all men know their penises exist! And I know all girls know they exist. It's hard for us not to. But this is not the case for vaginas. In a way we lose a part of ourselves, excluding a part that makes us all unique, which I think is very sad. I want to challenge women to learn more about themselves, even if it is a little bit. Its very important to know who you are and whether you like it or not, your vagina is a part of you. Be proud of it! Listen to it! You may learn something!

Now onto the second play, Plaza Suite. I attended opening night, Friday the 17th. (By the way, there is a second showing tonight at 7:30pm!!! UNE students get in free!!!) In general the play was very good. It was entertaining, funny and interesting. Unfortunately, I didn't like it. I simply wasn't pulled in, as others were. It is in no way a reflection of the play, only of myself. It just wasn't my cup of tea. (Sorry guys) The actors did a good job, especially those in the third act (which was my favorite)! I hope that those that attended last night enjoyed it and that many of you will attend tonight’s showing and have a good time!

That is all for now! Please post what you think about my discussion about the Vagina Monologues and what you thought of each play. As always, if you want me to bring attention to something simply post a comment and I will be sure to do that in the next blog! Thanks again for reading! I will post again soon!!! Oh, by the way, we only have 7 days of classes left!! XD I hope everyone is excited as I am about going home!!! WOO HOO!!!

      Hiya Everyone!!

Sorry it has been such a long time. Just when I was starting to write blogs again after s[ring break a family emergency occured and I had to get back home. But that story is for another day. Today I would like to talk about the events that are coming up at UNE.

There are so many things to do this week. Starting with the two plays, The Vagina Monolouges, the 15th and 16th, and The Plaza Suite, the 17th and the 18th. Tickets are available at the box office all week. Ballroom dance classes have been available for a few weeks now and this week they will be available at 3pm in the campus center gym on Thursday. On Sunday the last APB movie, Revolutionary Road, will be shown. Free dinner and a movie, you know I will be there! And finally the SMOM, Friday at 8pm in the Hang. Also, everyone should be ready for all the families that will be attending the UNE Day. Maybe stike up some conversation and maybe make some friends that will be attending the school nect year. :)

If I didn't bring attention to something, please post a comment and Iw will be sure to bring attention to it as soon as possibnle. Have a good day everyone and for those celebrating it HAPPY EASTER!!!!

      Hiya Everyone!!!

What a weekend! (At least for me) I have participated in school events and done a huge load of homework and I still have stuff to do XD Well, I wanted to post some pictures from last night’s Spring semi, talk about what things have been going on the last few days and also what you can look forward to this upcoming week.

Last night’s dance was awesome! I went with a huge group of friends. Half in my car, half in another. We arrived a little after the dance started, but that is how we planned it earlier. I was on my feet the entire time, enjoying every minute! ^^ I think I would have to rate it as one of the best dances I have been to while attending UNE. I can’t wait for more to come!!

(My friend Nick and his girlfriend Ashley ^^)

(A couple of my friends dancing and playing around ^^)

Also on Friday was Relay for Life. Unfortunately, I didn’t attend, but many of my friends did. One, a Ms. Jackie, was there the entire time because she was helping run it. Thank you everyone who attended and Congratulations to all that stayed up the entire night. I know we do it already, but you stayed up and remained moving which I find requires more energy than staying in our dorms all night.

Tonight was the ABP Movie “Yes Man”. I had seen it previously when it first came to theaters, but there was free pizza and wings and Jim Carry. I just couldn’t pass it up ^^ I loved it and hope to see it again. From the laughter I assume others that were there felt the same.

Coming up this week is the International Fashion show. I will be in it along with many others sharing their heritage. Come and support your fellow UNE students and learn about how diverse our campus is! I will be attending the first of our rehearsals tomorrow and will hope to get more information about it. I will keep everyone updated!

Well, that is all for now. If I didn’t get to a topic you wanted to know about, please post a comment and I will be sure to get to it next time. And don’t be afraid to start discussions here.

      Hiya Everyone!!!

Welcome back from break! I hope everyone was able to find some time to relax. I was very busy for my little sisters ceremony (which I will be talking about in another blog), but it was rewarding in the end! ^^ If you weren't able to relax do not fret for we only have about 30 days of classes left (Yes, it’s that close!!!) and you should be able to relax some over the summer.

Today I want to post a shorter blog about plane trips. I know we have already done this, but if you read about this now and store it in your memory maybe you will come back to check up and maybe take some of my suggestions.

First I want to address what to do when you are on a flight. For many that attend this school you are able to drive to and from school easily. But others (such as myself) have to take a plane flight to get home. Depending on the time of day the flight is and how long the flight is there are various activities you can participate in. When I take a trip I make sure I have a book to read, some puzzles, my laptop and a pillow. I'm sure you can guess what one would do with these objects. Most of the time I sleep because I lose time flying across time zones so I have to make up for it, but on my way back I try to entertain myself as much as possible to stay awake. This is something you should try to do when crossing time zones because it will allow the transition to come easier to you. Also, I find that airplanes can get pretty cold, especially by the window, so I bring an extra pair of socks or slippers. This way when you are in the air you can switch shoes and keep your feet warm. If your feet are warm, the rest of your body will follow suit. One other thing you can do is strike a conversation with the person next to you. Our generation has the worst social skills in history, so what better place to practice then on a plane. Now, I don't mean bombard your neighbor, but introduce yourself, ask them where they are going and why. If they are distant then stop, but it’s likely you will find the person is happy to find a companion. If you are lucky you may make a connection for the future. I've met some pretty interesting characters and remember them to this day. Now, what I do to pass the time may not suit your fancy, so I encourage you to post your ideas in a comment and get a discussion started!

The second thing I want to talk about it transportation to and from the airport. This came to my attention when I arrive Monday morning from an overnight flight and learned that my original transportation would not be able to pick me up. So, I started thinking of ways to avoid that mess in the future. First, make sure you have some way to go to or leave the airport. I don't drive and park because I don't want to pay the money it would take to keep it there. If you drive yourself, then you can disregard this. ^^ Second, make sure you have a back up form or transportation. I would have made plans for one of my others friends to be available if needed. Next, if neither of my first two plans fell through I would have bus and taxi information and extra money on me. I always carry taxi money with me in case of an emergency. You never know when something is going to happen. If you have the money and information you can catch a bus or taxi if one is available. As I said before, maybe these aren't things you would perform or suggest, so please post a comment and share what you have to say!

Again, I hope everyone had a great break! I know it’s a bit sucky (maybe more than a bit for others) to go home for a week only to come back to school, but as I said we will be home again in no time!!! XD As always, if you want me to bring attention to something please post a comment and I will be sure to address it in my next blog! Thanks for reading again!

Merry Meet and Farewell for now!!!

PS.
Don’t' forget about Hall Olympics! Tonight was a trivia game and there will be more activities throughout the week. Go and support your dorm for a pretty awesome prize!!! See ya next time!

      Hiya Everyone!!!

This is going to be a shorter blog because I am trying to get ready to go home tomorrow *does a little happy dance*. So let me begin by congratulating everyone who was asked back to be an RA or those who had applied and accepted! Fortunately, I will be joining you and I am very excited to meet our team!!! Our first training is Sunday, April 5. I can't wait to meet everyone!!!

I also would like to congratulate everyone on making it through midterms! If anyone had multiple midterms this week they are more than ready for break (i.e. I had three just today >.<). Well, Spring Break is here and so is time for fun and relaxation. I will be taking plenty of pictures and hopefully posting blogs, so if you have time between relaxing and partying please stop by and check out what I will be doing.

Oh, I have not told you what I will be doing! Well, I am going home (oh, Arizona I have missed you so!). There is no snow and no cold, only plenty of sunshine ^^. I will be preparing for and participating in my little sister's coming of age ceremony for her Native tribe. I will tell you more about it as I post blogs throughout the week.

Have a great break everyone!!! And as always you can post comments and ask for me to bring attention to something I promise to talk about in my next blog!

      Hiya Everyone!

First let me congratulate our UNE Basketball Team! TCCC Champs! I'm proud of them and can't wait to see how next year is going to turn out.

So, now on to the topic: midterms. Last week and this week is full of them (I have 3 this week >.<). I've been studying all weekend and I'm sure I will be working all this week. The stress level is sure to rise. All RA applicants also will find out if they made the cut Wednesday, March 4th.

With all this stress I found it fitting to attend Stress-X which was from 2pm-5pm. There were many act ivies people could participate in from start to finish. Everyone started with building their own bears, then they could make sand creations, paint a thermometer, make an ornament and other things while snacking on cookies and hot chocolate. The movie Bolt started around 2:30pm and then other activities started afterwards. People could paint cups at 3pm and make photo coasters at 4pm. There was also a raffle at 4:30pm. For those that attended the entire time would have been able to collect everything they had since very few people showed up because of the snow fall. In the below pictures you will see a pretty good idea of how few people were there. I was able to do everything and there was plenty left over at the end of the day. I had a great time and I hope that everyone that attended did as well.

I hope your weekend went well! I had a great time! I hope everyone went to the basketball game to cheer on your Nor'Easters! It looked like a great turn out and the men won by about 20 points!

(Our Nasties)

Well, today I just want to talk about events that are coming up. Two in February and two in March. The two in February are in the same weekend, so you can go to one or both. The first is February 27th, the night the Kinsey Sticks will be performing over at the Biddeford Theater. It is free for UNE students. All you have to do is pick up a ticket at the box office. I hear it is supposed to be a really good time and if you go maybe you will see me there!!! The next day February 28th is "Lukewarm" which is a program to start getting ready for the spring! It is separated into for parts throughout the day and is held at different dorms. I'm really excited for airbrush tattoos and Karaoke! So, go to one of the events or all four, whichever you have time for!

The two in March are split up by Spring Break (12 more days!!!). The first is March 1st, Stress X, which I believe starts at 2pm. It will be a fun filled day with all sorts of activates to calm and relax you for the rest of the semester. They had a Stress X last semester and if you didn't go then, now is your chance! I was not able to attend, but I definitely plan on going to this event. There will be "build your own bears", the movie Bolt and many other things! Come and relieve yourself from a few hours of studying. After Spring Break is the Spring Semi on March 21st. I do not know the theme, but I will inform everyone as soon as I know (If you know it, comment and I will be sure to get the word out). It is sure to be a good time (at least I believe it will be). I love to dance and will surely be there!!!

Well, that’s all for now! As always if you want me to talk about something just post a comment and I will be sure to get to it in my next blog! I hope to see you guys at one of the events and if I don't I hope you have a good time anyway!!!

Merry Meet and Farewell for now!!!

      Hiya Everyone!!!

Sorry I haven't posted yet this week! I have been sick all week and haven't gotten around to blogging. Fortunately, being sick gave me an idea to blog about: medicine. Though, I want to focus on things that are natural, not something you pick up at the drug store. I have found that they are less expensive and have a faster reaction then some other medication. I just want to talk about basic illnesses.

Let’s start with a sore throat. There are two remedies that I know of that I have personally used. The first is the remedy I learned when I was a child, gargling salt water. Take about a teaspoon of salt and mix with about 8oz of water. You should gargle this mixture several times a day. It helps wash away mucus and temporarily relieve the feeling of a sore throat. The second remedy I learned about a few years ago and prefer it over the previous remedy I just mentioned. The remedy is drinking lemon tea with honey. Simply make some lemon tea and flavor it with honey instead of sugar. Many people modify this slightly and instead make a mixture of lemon juice (available at the grocery store) and honey and take several teaspoons of the mixture throughout the day.

Now, onto headaches. Technically, I only have one remedy for headaches, but fortunately you don't need to take anything, all you need is some peace, quiet and comfort. First, get into a comfortable position that you can remain in for about 20 minutes (it doesn't matter if you are sitting or laying down). Next close your eyes and slow and deepen your breathing. I find this easiest by focusing only on my breathing, making sure I inhale the same amount of time I exhale. Next take one to two of your fingers (I use my index and middle finger) and begin lightly massaging your temples (I usually make circles, but do whatever is comfortable for you). For me this is soothing, allowing me to focus more on my breathing. Continue for about twenty minutes or until your headache is gone. You may feel likes it hard to move after this, but that is because your entire body has become relaxed (don't worry, it’s a good thing ^^) Now, I must remind you that you shouldn't open your eyes to check to see if twenty minutes have passed because that takes your focus of breathing and relaxing. If all goes correctly you will lose track of time (another sign you are completely relaxed).

The next three remedies revolve around stomach aches and nausea. I learned two when I was a child and have used them all my life. The other I learned a few years ago, around the same time I learned about the lemon and honey for a sore throat. The first, eating toast and crackers, is useful for mild stomach aches and nausea. All you really need to do is snack on toast (no butter or anything on it) or crackers (I prefer saltine crackers). This should settle your stomach. This seems to help me within 30 minutes or so. The second I find rather pleasant: peppermint. Now you can grab a piece of peppermint candy and suck on it or drink peppermint tea. Either will work, but one is definitely more convenient then the other. Try both and see which you like most. The final remedy may seem a bit unappealing, but it works every time and you WILL feel better after taking it. At home we always called it the "The Drink" because it is infamous in the family, mainly because of its horrible taste. But we all learned that things that are good for you (i.e. vegetable) or helpful to you (i.e. the drink) don't always taste good. For the drink you take about1/2 tsp. of baking soda and mix it into 3-4 oz of warm tap water. Go into the bathroom (I will explain in a minute) and drink the entire thing. Don’t stop in the middle, it just makes it worse when you need to finish the rest. Remember how I told you this will make you feel better? Well, I wasn't lying it will, but by drinking this you will have one of two outcomes. You will either drink it and start to feel better almost right away or you will throw up and feel better as soon as you are done hugging the porcelain god.

Well, that is all for now everyone!! I hope you can use those and that they are as useful to you as they have been for me. If I didn't talk about an illness you are concerned about you can go to http://www.earthclinic.com/ or http://www.pathlights.com/nr_encyclopedia/. They provide multiple remedies and feedback from people who have tried the suggested remedies. Also, if you need a natural remedy provider look up "Sacred Grove Apothecary". I first came in contact with them at a renaissance festival and ever since I have gone to them for my remedies. If you have a problem finding them post comment and I will try to get the word to them. If you don't feel these remedies are going to work don't be afraid to go to a doctor. A doctor will definitely be better in severe cases.

So, please comment and tell me what you think. Also share your natural remedies. As always if I haven't brought attention to something simply post a comment and I will be sure to add it into my next blog!!!

      Hiya again Everyone!!!

So, in this blog I want to talk about things that RA applicants should be paying attention to and what is going to be happening the next few weeks. If you aren't an RA applicant, don't worry. You can still read this blog, learn about the process and contribute to potential discussions in the comments.

As all applicants know our paperwork was due last Friday, the same day we received our interview dates. There should have been at least 3 groups that have had their duty interviews and many should have had their RA interview as well. I was in a group last night for Duty interview and had a great time. For the interview I accompanied one of the RA's on a round and when the round was over the RA on duty interviewed me and I also received an opportunity to ask as many questions as I could about the job. Many of the questions I was asked concerned how I felt about the job and the people surrounding the job, as well as what I could contribute to the job. My interview was very comfortable and rewarding. I was interviewed by Sammy J, the RA of South 4th. She was very helpful in answering all of my questions and helped me learn about what to expect as an RA. If you have not had this interview yet I want to assure you it is very comfortable and informal. Don’t be afraid to ask questions because that is what they are there for. If you are worried you might not be able to ask questions or you might forget them then take some time to sit and think about some questions, then write them down. This way you can think them over, revise them and add to the list.

This Sunday is RA Group Processing Day from 1pm-4pm in the MPR's. I was informed that at this gathering we will be participating in various activities that will show how we interact and with others. We will be observed by the RA staff hosting the event. When I asked about the event I was told there would be serious and fun activities. So when you come on Sunday be ready to have fun and interact with the current staff and other RA applicants.

The other form of interviewing is a one-on-one RA interview with an area coordinator. Now, I do not have personal experience in this area because I have not had my interview yet. The only advice I could give is with other interviews I have had. I always go in comfortable and relaxed, showing my nerves make me feel like I don't look professional or serious about the position. In terms of what to wear I don't know what you would wear to this interview. Maybe something semi-casual to show you are relaxed yet can be serious. Whatever you go in make sure you are comfortable. And before you go into the interview make sure you know that you want to become an RA and are comfortable with what you are about to become involved in. You will feel ready and comfortable about the interview.

That's all I have for now! If you are an applicant make sure you look in your mail boxes March 4th to find out if you have been accepted as an RA. If any of you have had interviews please feel free to comment and start a discussion. If you have questions about anything please comment as well.
As always if you want me to bring attention to a certain topic please comment and I will be sure to add it into my next blog.

      Hiya Everyone!!!

So, I just got back from studying in Windward and I came to my mind that I haven't really ever talked about Windward Cafe. With that in mind I decided to talk about our rather new cafe.
As many of you know (or at least I hope you know) that Windward serves Starbucks coffee, lunches, smoothies and other tasty treats. The smoothies and many things from the same side of the Windward start at $3 and go up in price depending on the size and what you have added to it. I believe the coffee at the Starbuck's side is about the same price, just as if you were going to Starbuck's yourself. The lunches and snacks have an affordable price range, though I do not know what they are for sure. Be sure to check it out and try what they have to offer. Personally I enjoy the Pineapple Passion and anyone who likes a pina-colada taste I recommend it! ^^

(Semi-secluded table)

Another reason to visit the Windward it for it comfortable study area in the back. They have big comfy chairs with a movable platform to allow you to set your food to snack on then use it later to do your homework. There are also table for people to sit at for a study group or something of the sort. I have never gone there to do my homework before today, but after just a few minutes I made a decision to visit the cafe more often. The chairs are very comfortable, the atmosphere is calm and the area is quiet. The sounds of the adjacent cafe and blenders doesn't travel far, they seemed distant and off away from my work space. I suggest if you are looking to get away from the annoying ruckus a dorm room may have then you might want to escape to the Windward Cafe.

(comfy chairs at the cafe)

The Cafe is open Monday-Thursday from 8am-8pm, Friday 8am-3pm, Saturday 10am-6pm and Sundays 4pm-8pm. Be sure to stop by for a treat or for some peace and quiet to study. Hope you guys have a good week and be sure to check in soon!!! Don't forget to post comments!

      Hiya Everyone!!!

I want to take some time to talk about what has been going on at UNE and what is going to be happening within the next month.

The first event I want to talk about is the snow ball. Unfortunately, not many people attended the dance. For those that did it was a great time. Because there weren’t many people it was very comfortable and not crowded. People could dance where they wanted to without worrying about being crushed or pushed from where they were. Some new things added to the dance were the cookies, vegetable platter, and usual lemonade and water. They also had a raffle where you could win prizes, such as movie packages and the trivial pursuit game. I had a great time and I hope that others did as well.

(An example the number of people at the dance)

The next event occurred the next day, as I'm sure many of you know about, the Super Bowl. I know I was at one of the many parties and celebrations that were being held all over campus. The biggest of the parties was held in The Hang where there was a special menu for those that attended and the game was up on the big screen. I hope everyone had fun watching the game whether you watched it for the commercials, half-time show or you really wanted to watch super bowl history being made!

The most recent event was the UNE Lock-In/Out. For those that arrived early enough you could have received a blue shirt that said "I Got Lei'd at the Lock-In", a lei or many other things depending on where you went at the lock-in. Some of the entertainment at the lock-in was a mechanical surfboard where you could show off your balance skills, a race track and a bouncer. There were also competitions such as the weight lifting challenge and UNE Idol Finals, where in the latter there was a surprise proposal (and she did say yes ^^)!!!! The entertainment I found was the most interesting was The Adult Circus show, starring Chris Chelko & Michael DuBois. I am a sucker for juggling/magic/comedy shows and this show had it all! For all that attended you got to see so many different talents and were constantly impressed and baffled. I know that I will try to see them again.

Time for the events that are coming up, which actually starts tomorrow! There will be a movie, Role Models, in Alfond. There will be free pizza and wings served. Monday at Windward there will be free cookie decorating for all the valentines sweethearts as well as candy grams to support the class of 09. For all the RA applicants we had our applications due yesterday and will have interviews for the next two weeks as well as Group Processing day on the 15th. Good luck to all the applicants out there! Last but not least is the all-you-can-eat-pancake day at Applebee’s February 22nd. It is being hosted by the Surf Club as a fundraiser. The flyers have not gone up for it, but I wanted to get the word out about it as soon as possible and give everyone a heads up. You will need to purchase tickets from a surf club member or e-mail a member for more information. I will continue to give information and updates over the next few weeks.

Well, that is it for now. If I didn't mention something please post a comment and I will be sure to include information about it in my next blog. I hope everyone has a great day!

Merry Meet and Farewell for now!!!
