Election Day!!
Hey guys!! So normally I only blog on Sundays or Mondays, but since yesterday was such a huge day (and for those who havent kept track of my blogs, I love politics and election night is my favorite night of every 2 years, lol) I thought I would talk a little bit of what happened at UNE in celebration of the election.
Firstly. I had both of my political science classes yesterday and so a huge portion of both of the classes was talking about the election.
Then at 7 there was this huge party in The Hang, the on campus restaurant, for the election put on by POP (People of Politics). There was cake, pizza and red and blue balloons. It was so much fun, because most of my friends are republicans and so we were all there together getting excited and stuff.
And election night is really like the super bowl, because you have these two teams and you are just rooting them on and strategizing and being like, well if this happens we can still come out on top. And so we had my republican friends who were doing that and we were all goofing off and it was just a lot of fun.
Here are some pictures of the election night festivities:

These are my friends who were rooting on the red. lol, what I love about politics though, for me, is that people can root on the republican or root on the democrat, but still just laugh about it with no hard feelings and that's what made last night fun. We all had different opinions, but it didn't really matter.

This is the democrat club, after Obama had been declared the winner pointing to Obama's name.

Showing off our fake Obama tatoos.

our tattoos.

and the good ol' red versus blue balloon war! lol
Then the democrat club came back to my dorm to watch Obama give his speech and to hear McCain concede. And props to McCain by the way, because he gave such a good speech! And Obama gave an amazing speech too.
And in case you missed it, here are links to their speeches.
And so like also as a little public statement, you all should really active in politics, whether it is with the republican or democrat party! Its super fun and rewarding! (When Obama was winning I just kept thinking of all those doors I knocked on in the freezing cold and all those phone calls I made! Totally made it worth it! Lol) And UNE offers so many opportunities with POP, Young Democrats and Young Republicans. And even though the next big election isn’t for 2 years, you can still be apart of it! So yeah… public statement over, lol.
Well, I’ve got to get back to work, but hope you enjoyed the election and all its festivities, even if it didn’t go your way and I’ll probably put one of my regular blogs sometime later this week!
Seeya!
