Presidential Inauguration
Hey guys! So I just got back from the Presidential Inauguration (like this morning) and it was amazing! It was a huge opportunity living in Maine, because the drive really was not that bad. We left on Sunday and stopped in Baltimore and with every part of the trip there is so much to tell… but I am just going to give you the overview. In Baltimore we saw the Ace of Cakes’ (it’s a TV show on food network) cake shope Charm City… Megan was really excited about it and it was the main reason we went to Baltimore.

Then on Sunday night we got into D.C. and slept, because we had been up for so long, then woke up early Monday morning to check out D.C. It was my first time there and so it was so cool to just see all the places in real life, like the Lincoln Memorial and the Capital Building. Most of my pictures are at Megan’s, but some I do have are from the American museum:

The Hope Diamond, the biggest in the world!

DUMBO!

The original ruby red shoes!
and we also saw the white house, but it was really blocked off, so this is as close as we could get...

and cops on horses!!!!
Then on Monday night we met up with our friend (when I say we I meant Megan and I) from UNE who was there for a conference. And we got dinner and over dinner decided that we were going to just stay in D.C. overnight, so we went back to the apartment we were staying (Megan’s family) and got dressed and then came back down to the National Mall at 2am. It was 8 degrees and freezing, but we were the closest you could get without a ticket and we met some really awesome people!

This is as close as we could get, it was the best money could not buy.

And this is the big TV that we could also watch it on...

This is all the people standing behind me. The sea of heads like never ends....
10 hours later I stood and watched as the 44th president of the united states of America was sworn in, which made it all worth it. And then we tried to get back to the metro which, the whole journey from this L’Enfant metro to where we were staying in pentagon city usually took Megan and I 15 minutes, too us 3 hours. To top that off we only walked 2 blocks and there were 4 ambulances picking people up who were injured, because of the crowds. People were pushing other people down escalators and kids were getting lost, it was crazy!

This was where a couple people got pushed down escalators...

This is another Metro station, that is completely filled with people, to give you an idea of how crazy it really was
So Megan and I headed back to the apartment and crashed and headed to Philadelphia in the morning. I had never been to Philadelphia either so it was awesome being there, as well. We saw Independence Hall and the old courthouse and stood where the declaration of independence was first read. The coolest thing I think was though, was the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the fire burning…was really awesome!

And the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
And then we started back to school. And after horrible traffic and getting lost in Jersey and New York, we finally pulled into UNE in the morning. And that was my first road trip and it was so worth it! Especially since I worked on the campaign and put so much into the election, to see Obama actually get inaugurated was amazing…
And I hope that wasn’t too boring and that you enjoyed my pictures and I will talk to you later!
