Hi guys!
Right now at UNE it is a time for goodbyes. Like it is super sad, we are having our last get togethers and then people are packing up and leaving. But, we have definitely made the best of this week. We had a group riding party (kind of) where like six of us all went riding together. We used the western saddle (it is really hard to fall off) and everyone just flew! They were going so fast, it was crazy! Another night we went out to ice cream (on Wednesday’s at Cold Stone it is half-priced for college students). It was so nice, because it was a really pretty evening and we walked around Old Port, which I had never been too. Then we got back to school a bonfire was scheduled. So, we all met up for that. Then another night we watched a movie. We watched Fever Pitch and convinced our friend to watch it, because we said it was not a chick flick, but a sport movie about the Red Sox. He was not impressed when he found out it was totally a chick flick, lol. But, the best part was rock climbing. So, like a bunch of my friends are crazy and rock climb and they brought me with them and at first I was like I will just let you guys do your thing and I’ll watch. But, then I ended up repelling down and it was super scary, but so much fun! And then I ended up rock climbing up! Which was harder and scarier, but I think more fun! I did not think I was going to make it, but I did! All the way! It was so awesome. And then later I repelled down again! I was wicked proud of myself. And now tonight I am going to the Portland rock gym with some of the same people. At the UNE box office (a place you can buy discounted tickets) it is only $5. I am so excited! woot woot.

this is me beginning to repel.

this is me in the midst of climbing up.

...and I made it! woohoo!

And Aubrey left yesterday, which was the saddest part of this week. We ended up going to her house in New Hampshire to drop her horse off and then came back Saturday and then went to the beach. And it was super stormy and the water was higher than the rocks, so we couldn’t walk very far. But, it was so sad cleaning out her room and saying goodbyes. I tried to move stuff back in, but it didn’t really work. One thing I never thought was that I wouldn’t want school to end. But, I am going to miss Maine and my friends so much!

Well, that is the basic wrap-up. This will probably be my last blog, since I leave tomorrow. So, I hope you have a fun summer! And I really hope I see you at UNE next year. If you see me, make sure to come and say hi!

See you later,

      Hey guys!
This week has been so beautiful! I have spent a few days at the beach, tanning, which is really one of the best parts of living here. Literally, I can leave my dorm room and be at the beach in five minutes flat, walking.

this is our view from UNE! aammaazzing!

the sun was so nice!

But, stress from finals is starting to get to everyone. So, basically everyone is pretty grumpy and busy with studying. So, this week was pretty lame. Although, it was my last week of work and my boss brought in a sheet cake one night and boxes upon boxes of pizza and cinnamon sticks another. And we played games while we worked.

Then the weekend came…wow what an eventful weekend! So, Friday I went up with some equestrian team members to a barn up in Augusta. It was a super fun trip, other than one of the girls did a somersault off a horse and broke her fall with her head. Luckily, she was okay. After that we did not stay long. On the way back we ate some yummy Panera sandwiches and drank some yummy starbucks coffee. And then back to school… to do homework! Then on Friday night, in an emergency Aubrey’s dad had to fly out of the Portland airport. So, Saturday Aubrey and I had to pick up his car from the airport.

No problem right? Wrong! We had no car. So, we took the Nor’easter Express to downtown Biddeford. Then switched to the intercity bus to Portland, but we had to wait an hour on the street corner outside of the Happy Dragon, which was not pleasant. Then after an hour bus ride we got to the Maine Mall. There we called a random taxi. We waited fifteen minutes for the taxi and then took a ten minute taxi ride to the airport.

But, the fun did not stop there. So, the parking lot that was deemed ‘long term parking’ was like ten parking lots into one. We had no clue where the car was and the taxi driver did not even know if this was the right parking lot. So we started going here and there and up and down. Just looking everywhere! No car. We finally called her dad. He said it was three lanes away from the exit. But, we didn’t know where the exit was. Finally, after much searching we found the car. We were skipping and hollering and whooping and hooraying.

Then Aubrey pulled out the hide-a-key and it was not there. The spare keys were there, there being inside the car. But the hide-a-key was not! So, we were locked out. We went to talk to the security guards, who were nonexistent. When we found one she said that only if we had AAA could we get help. So, Aubrey’s dad ended up calling their pastor who was headed to Portland anyways and he brought us the extra key from Aubrey’s house.

So, then we waited another hour inside the airport. And can I tell you how awesome the toilet seats are? They have moveable seat covers! = ) That was really cool! We had much laughs and did some yoga. And waited and waited some more. And played in the revolving doors. Then finally the keys came. We skipped and ran and opened the doors! We stepped in and started the car and we were off!

We first stopped for a chocolate break, after a five hour exhausting adventure, you need chocolate! Then we headed back to school and off to see Sysko. I am getting to the point I am having to memorize five million things at once, so all I can say about the ride, was that it was frustrating!

Then we went to Hannaford’s and had a junk food explosion. Frozen fried food and chocolate and twizzlers and a new chick flick. It was the only way to end such a up-and down weekend.

Unfortunately, we missed Hanson! Yes, Hanson came to UNE. Every year there is this huge outside concert brought to by the environmental club and the student government and Hanson played as the big group year. Everyone could not stop talking about it and had so much fun!

From a friend's photo

Now, today we woke up and I helped Aubrey with nursery duty at church. Which was fine since we had three very easy kids and then we went to ride Sysko and I really had my best ride ever! I jumped over poles, made it almost two times around the ring trotting and am starting to really get everything [the five million things you have to memorize] under control.

and now... the studying for finals begins...

I hope the end of the year is suiting you well, have a nice week.

Hey guys! Can I only tell you how GORGEOUS it is here! Oh my word! It is amazing! 70 degrees, sunny and with a light breeze! Plus we only have 6 more school days left and then finals and then 4 MONTHS of vacation! Did I mention the 4 MONTHS of vacation?

Okay, so the weekend wrap up. On Friday my boss took me out to lunch, but instead of actually going to a restaurant, she bought us take-out Thai food and then we ate it on the beach! We ate it at this beautiful beach in Kennebunk Port and it was so amazing! Like, I was so sick of snow and boom, now it is like the best summer weather! And of course we finished off out great lunch break with ice cream, which is the only way to end such an amazing beach day.

Then, I went riding with Aubrey and since it is warm we rode outside and got some sunshine and it was just fabulous! But, then you know school is ganging up on me. Since, all my final projects, papers and tests are due soon. So, I got super stressed out and on Saturday I kind of locked myself inside studying and watching movies [sometimes you need a break from studying and movies are a great way to relax….]

But, of course my friends saved me from my misery. Jessie and I went to the beach and then Aubrey and I had a girl’s night in. We were planning on watching a movie, but we ended up just junking out and talking and both half-falling asleep.

Sunday came along and I cheered Aubrey on at a horse show, where she placed FOURTH! Woot woot! Very impressive! And then we had the option of going into work for double pay and we could do up to four hours [this is at my phone-a-thon job]. So, after the horse show we got lunch and ice cream in Saco, bathed in the sun and headed back to work. But, we only made it like an hour. Then we could not stand being inside on such a beautiful day. So, what did we do? Go riding, of course!

This was my best ride ever too!! I was never on the leash and I did a course to practice control and I started working on my diagonal [like posting up and down at the right time]. We rode outside and it was just the prettiest day!

Afterwards, we came back and had a mini chick flick-a-thon. Which are always the best! Now, I am off to statistics [boo] and the gym [which is so much nicer, because they just put more equipment in and redid the cardio room]. Later, I might go running with Jessie and then work, but that will be awesome, because Mandy, the boss is bringing us pizza and we are playing games.

And, so I’ll post again later in the week, when things start getting interesting again.
Talk to you guys later!

Hey guys, so I know I am late posting again, but this week was boring! Really, nothing happened. I went to class and went to work and studied and wrote papers and then the weekend came. =)

This weekend on Friday I went to Aubrey’s mom’s house in New Hampshire with the rest of the Equestrian Team, I was watching their show. We got there at like 9:30pm and then in the morning we left at like 6:30am! After a few hours of driving we got to Dartmouth College, where the show was. It was this huge barn, with like a bazillion horses, but no bleachers. So, we sat in lawn chairs we brought. Normally, horse events are freezing, but I was pretty warm. And the moms had baked for us, so that was a nice added touch.

As far as riding, everyone did amazing from UNE! Bry placed first in her jumping class! Aubrey placed fifth and sixth in her classes and Catherin placed third! UNE did not place overall, but everyone rode awesome and had a lot of fun, which is what really counts! After watching the show I am a little worried about riding next year, but still really excited!

Then this morning I woke up bright and early for church, took a nap and guess what, I am back hitting the books again! And that is about it, have a nice week and I’ll talk to you later!

Hey guys! So Friday was the variety show. And it was okay. They had did the gym up really nice with a huge stage and gave out free popcorn. And there was small circle tables you sat at and then regular seats behind. I got a table with my friends and there were definitely some funny acts.

Then on Saturday was Miss UNE. This was so hilarious! It was a pageant, but guys were dressed up as girls and basically I laughed the entire time! My old R.A. Tony came out in a mock whip cream bikini, which was so funny, and he got second place. It was just super funny! The whole thing.

And on Sunday was housing selection. I was waitlisted. So, I have no clue where I am staying, although I am guaranteed housing as a sophomore. Aubrey got in to South, which are these huge suits for sophomores. Like, you share your bedroom with one other person and share you bathroom with 2-4 other people, but then you have a living room and kitchen in your suite too. I think I will probably get Freddie, which is the worst hall. Not really, but it has a bed reputation. It is kind of dingy and at the edge of campus. But, they are putting a ton of money in to it, so hopefully it will be nicer next year.

As far as the whole process, it was quite an ordeal. Aubrey’s appointment, for example, was at 4:45 and she got there at 4:30 and left at 6:50! Here’s why it takes so long, first, you have to wait in the Hang [a like on campus fast food place] for them to call you up. Then you go into another waiting room to fill out a housing contract and then after waiting in there, you get called into the final room, where you wait in a line and once you get to the booth you pick your room. Aubrey’s number was 280 [out of like 600 something] and she still did not get the housing she wanted, it is really competitive and a lot of people go in groups and use the lowest in the group to pick. But, it is okay, because even if I am in Freddie I still will be able to visit Aubrey in her room! = )

To check out more about the halls, go here: here!

But, now my weekly routine is starting again. Wednesday I have a math test and I pick classes for next year, plus Edge meeting. I have work all week and tonight and Thursday I am going riding [did I mention I am joining the riding team next year? Woot, woot! I am so excited!] So, craziness once again! I’ll post about this week maybe Friday and then Saturday I am going to watch the riding team compete in New Hampshire.

Talk to you all later!

      Hey Guys!
Okay, so I know I said that I would post on Monday at the latest and now it is Friday, but all I can say is that I am a very bad procrastinator. Sorry! =)

So, anyways Sunday was so much fun! My roommates and I went to one of our I-Pod events with our I-Pod directors to Portland to see The Spirit of Uganda. It was this African singing and dancing extravaganza and it was so awesome. The performers were like from the ages of 5th grade to first year at Universities. But, they moved so fast and it was just really cool! I could not believe they were so young! Plus, the singing was amazing and the commentator was so funny! It was at the Merrill Theater and I had never really Portland before, so it was kind of cool to see that area. Don’t be like me; definitely check out Portland, it is so cute!! We also went out to dinner before at this Ethiopian restaurant. We had this communal meal that was like a huge piece of this spongy bread and then like these potatoes and sauces and salad. And you picked everything up with the bread. I loved it, because I love trying new food. I think that food is such a big part of the culture of a place, so like when you try new food you really get to know the culture better. Plus, on Sunday the weather was like so warm and sunny and beautiful! Overall, it was just a really awesome afternoon!

Then this week became a little busier. I have had lots of papers and tests to turn in, plus work every night! Then one night (I think Tuesday) I went to my friend’s ceramics class with her at Westbrook College in Portland. It was interesting, and I got to mess around in the clay. But, afterwards we ended up getting dinner, then spending an hour in borders, then spending another hour in Wal-Mart. And in Wal-Mart I found Sweeny Todd, so since that is such an awesome movie, I bought that. So, we ended up going back to her suit and watching that. Which means I did not sleep till like 2am! And the next night was a 1am night, because I went out to dinner with part of one of my clubs and then last night was the weekly riding night at Aubrey’s horse’s barn. So, in conclusion, I am so tired!

But, no sleep for me! Tonight is the 33rd annual Variety Show (like a talent show) and it is a huge deal! I am so excited and cannot wait to check it out! So, I’ll post about that and hopefully have pictures, like maybe Sunday at the latest.

I am actually really sorry that I do not post more often or about more interesting things. But, hopefully you’ll like all the goofy variety show pics!

Seeya later!

      Hey guys!
I am so sorry it has been forever since I have written. But, I plan on posting twice in like the next few days. So, last I left you was before Easter. And my Easter weekend was amazing! Like on Thursday I went horseback riding with Aubrey and our friend Mike. And we went after work at like 9pm and stayed till 1:45AM! But, it was super fun! And okay, so Mike is a little bit of a goofball and he was like first chasing the horse over jumps…

And running at Sysko and then from the side mounting her bareback. That was really funny, but I am not so sure Sysko was quite as amused as we were. But, we didn’t get any videos of that, because my camera ran out of memory.

Then on Friday we left for Aubrey’s dad’s house. And we went to her church’s Good Friday service and it was really awesome. Then on Saturday morning (which was like noon for us) we went to New Hampshire. It was so much fun!

This is us saying "not it", because like we were doing this to decide who would go downstairs first for dinner and then all weekend we would randomly just touch our noses... lol it was really funny!

Welcome to New Hampshire!

First, we blasted country the whole way. And her mom was just like Aubrey and also Aubrey has lots of funny pets. Her dog Belle is a major bed hog and like kicked me off the bed! Then Clara, who is a like really small dog, is a vicious beast! Not really though. She was super sweet, although, she accidently bit my finger instead of the toy once. She was so much fun to play with! Then they have this cat that will like sit outside their living room window and hunt birds! I really wanted him to catch one, but no such luck.

This is cute Carla!

This is the bird hunter!

So, Saturday night we all went and got amazing pizza and watched like the most boring moving ever! The Good Shepherded or something like that, with Matt Damon and so that was okay. Both, Aubrey and I fell asleep, but her brother, his friend and her parents got along.

Then the next day was EASTER! But, Aubrey didn’t wake up, so we missed church…But then, we had the hugest Easter Egg hunt! Turns out I am a suck at hunting and I only found 4. Aubrey found the most with twenty something. Her brother and friend found at least fifteen each. But, then we ate amazing burritos, watched Step Up and headed back to Maine.

She must have gotten some good candy!

Her balloon was getting so big!

This is Aubrey's mom, Aubrey and me in our Easter dresses! Aubrey and I dressed her mom! She looked so cute!

Back to Maine...

Then this week was International Week and since I work for The Office of International Programs I was working a lot. But to me, it was super fun! On Monday, they served a special Mexican lunch and people came to talk about immigration. Then there was a salsa dancing night. Then, there was a Japanese calligraphy lesson and a Thai cooking class and then an International Fashion Show and a Heritage program! It was awesome!

Also, we went riding again on Thursday, but this time only till midnight. And it looks like it will be a weekly thing. Today, I also went to a riding clinic with Aubrey. It was super fun watching her ride amazing! And on April 12th is one of her shows. Well, got to go. But, tomorrow I am doing something super fun with my I-POD living group (social and global justice), so I will post about that tomorrow night or Monday.
Later,
Marilyn

Hey guys!! Okay, so I had the best spring break ever!! First, I went to Aubrey’s house and it was a weekend of NEW experiences….

First new experience was small ball bowling or in other words candlepin bowling. WOW! Who knew there was more than one way to bowl? For all of you that have no clue what that is, just like me, it is like bowling because you have ten pins. But, they look different. Like straighter. And you have three small balls that fit in your hand. And you have two chances to throw the three balls (so like six chances) and then it is the next person’s turn. But, each turn goes into two boxes. So really each person only plays five times, instead of ten. I know, very confusing. I was absolutely horrible at it. I needed the three holes, and basically I was out of my element. I would have taken pictures, but I LEFT MY CAMERA CARD IN MY ROOM!! Not a big deal, except all the dorms were locked till after spring break…. But we’ll get to that later…

Next, I had a Fluffer Nutter….Okay, so we, in Ohio, don’t have marshmallow fluff, (at least I have never seen or heard of it) and so like a couple weekends back I was playing Catchphrase with Aubrey and Marshmallow Fluff came up and I thought it was the substance that created marshmallows. Well, everyone laughed at me and Aubrey was determined to feed me a Fluffer Nutter, so here it is: My First Fluffer Nutter (which for everyone who doesn’t know, is a spreadable marshmallow cream and peanut butter sandwich)

Okay, so then some of my other new experiences were working in a nursery… yeah for everyone who doesn’t know, kids are not my favorite. I mean I like working with them when they are older, but babies are just too much fuss and work. But, I was helping with Aubrey and it was definitely interesting. Then I posted on Sysko (like riding but like going up and down with her) and it was AMAZING! I loved it and cannot wait to do it again! Aubrey is training me! Here is some photos of her jumping… it was really awesome, she had a really good practice that night!

Then I headed to Arizona. It was AWSEOME! We stayed at this really nice church in Avondale and the weather was like 80 and sunny! And the first day we were exhausted, but ate this amazing Chinese food (best tofu I have ever had)! And then throughout the week we worked till like 1:30, from like 7:15 and we painted, put up drywall and insulated houses. I also calked a living room and loaded a truck twice with roofing tiles. Everything was new, but I really learned a lot about building a house. And of course it was for an amazing cause! For all of you that do not know Habitat for Humanity does not give houses away. They make houses affordable with a no interest mortgage for families that do not need a hand out, but a hand up. (Someone said that this week and I really liked the saying). And the families have to work like I think 400 hours on their house and another person’s house. This week I met 4 homeowners. It was really cool, because one of the homeowners was the one we had dry walled and he was just so appreciative and you could tell what this meant for him! This really changes their lives and it is just an awesome organization!

One of the houses we worked on in Peoria, AZ

This is me hammering in a nail.

This is the complex we worked on in Surprise, AZ.

This is the closet that Rachele, Jen and I dry walled!

Some of the better moments of the trip were when while painting the ceiling with a roller attached to a pole; the roller somehow unscrewed and fell on my head!! My whole head was covered in eggshell white paint and still is!!!

Then we also got to see Sedona, which is this really peaceful and supposed to be spiritual town. All the canyons and rocks are this really dark red color. We hiked there and it was just breathtaking. Then in the middle of all these huge rock formations is this church. It is really thin and glass covers it so that you can see everything around. We went there and it was also amazing!

Beautiful Sedona!

This is from a ledge off of a huge mountain/rock thing.

This is the church I was talking about.

We also went to the Phoenix Symphony which was nice and to a spring training game for the San Diego Padres versus the Oakland A’s. It was nice to be in the sun and a cool event to go to, but everyone really was burnt like tomatoes!!

Someone hitting for some team, during some part of the game!

Finally, we saw the Grand Canyon! It was so amazing! Breathtaking and like way better than I expected! We traveled 8 hours total to get there and it was so worth it!

Me at the Grand Canyon.

So, overall going to Arizona for spring break and working for Habitat for Humanity was better than any other college spring break I could think of!! Plus, the people that went although… very different… were awesome! We really learned to be a team, especially during insulation day. It was the best because although insulation is such a horrible and tedious job, it made it better than our team was kick butt!!

Some of us at the Grand Canyon.

Anyways, I hope your spring breaks are as good, or were as good as mine!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

      Hey guys!
So, this week has been boring (like I said it would be), but really stressful too! I had so many tests, one I got an A on, another not so much...but whatever! You just have to try hard and I did. What else? Oh, I was supposed to do serious swimming one night with Aubrey, but ended up just sitting in the hot tub and sauna (so much easier and relaxing!) then, I worked like almost every day at the phone-a-thon and it as usual was super fun! One night 4 of us earned over 2,500 in less than an hour!! woot woot!

Actually, I am supposed to be working now... lol. But, instead I am just posting…
What I am supposed to be doing is creating this brochure for The Study Abroad Office, for their new global citizenship program. See, you need to get certain citizenship hours (like volunteer hours) before you graduate, but now they are starting up this new program where you can get those hours during a week in the summer in Mexico. And you learn Spanish and about the culture and have home stays and it is just a really awesome program that gets you those needed credits. And I guess since I don’t have much to talk about right now, I could talk more about studying abroad.

Firstly, I work here, because studying abroad is something you NEED to do before you graduate. I know that and I try to convey that to everyone else. I am a pretty big advocate for the department. Plus, Trisha rocks and our office is pretty big with so many opportunities and is really just growing. Studying abroad though is just such an amazing experience and no matter how many people tell you that, you will not understand how true that is until you experience it yourself. I studied in The Slovak Republic last year as a senior in high school and it really was the best year of my life. I now have friends from Mexico, Germany, Brazil, Taiwan, Canada, Czech Republic, Slovakia and all throughout the U.S. I also traveled to over ten countries and saw a good chunk of Europe. I do not have a ton of pictures on this computer, but here are a few: (of my year abroad)

This is our whole exchange group of some sixty students who were placed throughout Slovakia and the Czech Republic. We represent over six countries!!

This is two of my best exchange friends Maike, from Germany and Molly, from Taiwan (and me in glasses, lol) This picture was actually in The Garden of Versailles!

This is Alayna (from Alberta) and Kique (from Mexico) and I in the center of NItra (my town in Slovakia) and they were 2 of 4 other exchanges placed with me in that town. You can kind of see Nitra castle in the background.

This a HUGE dinner that the NItra exchangees cooked (everyone made something from their own country) and this is all the Nitra exchanges (plus some) eating it at a host-family's house. It was in the spring and so hot and nice!

This is my mom, my best friend and my Aunt and I and my best friend's mom at the airport. Another good part of studying abroad is coming home. =)

Lastly, here is a video that Kique made of one of our excursions to Prague (capital of CZ) I don't know, it is pretty cool, so you might find it interesting or you might not, whatev! =)

So, yea and there is a lot of pictures of UNE students and information about our UNE programs and future and past falculty led trips (there might be one to China next year) at our website:
http://www.une.edu/cas/abroad/, please check it out!! It is so worth it! And please next year make an appointment with Trisha! She is so aweome and just really a nice person and she really works to make every exchange program awseome and there are scholarships and almost anyone who wants to go, CAN go if they apply.

And yeah... that is my whole shpeel... it is just really important to me, because I know how much it really impacted my life and I really wish that upon everyone else!! So, you should definitly check it out now and then talk to Trisha when you get here next fall!

Okay, well now I must get back to work... haha. Then off to try and zip up my suitcase (oh my) and off to Aubrey's till Sunday and then a week in ARIZONA for SPRING BREAK!!! AHHH... we will be painting and drywalling and we are for sure going to the Grand Canyon and the Pheonix Symphony, but other than that its a mystery! woohoo! I'll tell you about it all when I get back!
Have a nice break (if you are on break) and have a nice average week (for those who aren't)

      Hey guys!
So, this weekend I went to the spa! Well, kind of… My friend Aubrey’s church was having a spa weekend. So, they hired masseuses and manicurists and it was a lot of fun! Like we got there and put our feet in to these foot bath massagers and there was a pedicure table set up. Then we ate lots of food, like crackers and cheese and chocolate fondue! And cake and more chocolate and stuffed mushrooms and more chocolate and kettle corn and even more chocolate! (Chocolate being the staple meal) And of course we got massages (my first massage and it felt so good!) and we made our own jewelry and got our nails done (first manicure and my nails are so freaking cute!). And we ended the night with this woman comedian who was so freaking funny! Oh and we played games, like Catch Phrase, which is such a fun game! Like you have a word and you have to get your team to say that word without yourself saying that word. The funniest hint of the night was, “you are being chased by Indians and you look to your family and say…” The phrase we were supposed to say was “head for the hills”, but the guesses were “help” and “I love you” and we could not stop laughing for like at least 10 minutes afterwards! Then we all slept in the attic in our sleeping bags, it was so much fun!

Aubrey in the really nice foot bath!

Aubrey and her friend Kathryn.

Aubrey getting her nails did!

My nails! You might not be able to tell, but they are like a rich pink color with black and silverb 'fireworks' on them. But, I think the nail art looks like flowers. No matter, it is wicked cute! Aubrey got the same nail art, but with this deep blue polish. It was pretty too, but mine was better! :p

My fantabulous new earrings and I!! [really bad picture btw]

Then yesterday I sat for 5 hours in Shaw’s selling baked goods….
Yeah not so fun, lol. But, going to Arizona in a week is, so you gotta do what you gotta do. [5 days till SPRING BREAK!]

And of course my crazy roommates were up to something. Steph walks in last night and is like, “I have sorbet on jeans AND they just ripped!” So she grabs scissors and just starts going at her jeans in this rage, but it was so funny! So she ends up cutting them into shorts and then still mad she cuts her other jeans into capris. It was really hilarious!

The first cuts... dun dun dun

In the middle of the rage.... haha

The final creation!!

Well, that is where I’ll leave you. If anything exciting happens this week I’ll post, but more than likely my next post will be about my AMAZING spring break building houses in AZ! So, stayed tuned for that!

Talk to you later,
Marilyn

      Hey guys!
I hope you are well! I am so sick today! After missing a week of classes to attend to family matters in Ohio, I missed classes again today because like I said I am very sick! Luckily, I was able to get an appointment at the University Health Clinic. And I don’t have strep throat (yeah), but I might have mono (boo)! On campus this week they are having a senior auction (which sounds so funny!) and spring break is coming! Woohoo, only 2 more weeks! For those who don’t know I am going with UNE Habitat for Humanity to Arizona for spring break. I am so excited and ready to have some fun and build houses!

Also, to get home I took AirTrans Airways and it was only $100 roundtrip! This is amazing, if you don’t know. The planes were nice too. So, I would totally recommend checking them out! Also, if you have read my past posts you kind of can get the impression I have horrible travel luck. This time was the same. The day I left we got hit and there was not even any school! So, in conclusion I was delayed hours going there and coming home too! Just thought that was a fun fact to add in,

Oh by the way you all should rent Knocked Up! I just watched it and it is so funny! So, if you haven’t seen it, you should! And I saw just saw Jumper too. It was good and the lead guy is really hot, but it’s only an hour! I got there at 7:30 and was leaving at 8:40… so it’s awesome, but maybe not worth cinema prices…. Well I guess there’s my movie review segment…lol

Anyways, I am feeling lousy, so I think I’ll go back to bed.
Much Love,
Marilyn

So first of all, yours truly is an a-m-a-z-i-n-g at telemarketing. I earned the most money yesterday! Woohoo for me! Then my friends and I went to this magician: Justin Kredible… it was so funny!
Firstly, he was extremely good looking,

(don't you think so?)
so yeah for that! And he was just really funny! He like made this bowling ball pop out of a pad of paper and like he swallowed a huge, long balloon which was really gross, but totally intriguing at the same time! My favorite was when he popped this balloon animal and then it like magically appeared again from like this empty hat thing. And he took this girls ring, made it disappear and then appear again in her shirt… it was really weird! But, the whole time he was cracking jokes and basically I haven’t laughed that long since…. Well probably the first yoga lesson… but that is the whole different story… ha-ha.
Anyways,
Just thought I’d let you know about this event, since I don’t find myself going to a ton of these, so when I do you know, kind of a big thing,
Next week I am going home, so I’ll let you know all about that fun stuff when I post next weekend.
As far as this weekend though, have fun in the huge snow piles!!! We totally had a half snow day yesterday!! Which was totally amazing!

      Hey Guys!
What’s happening? This week has been so long! I guess the big news is I started a new job. I now work for the phonathon at UNE. It’s really fun! Monday thru Thursday, I spend three hours calling alumni and giving them updates and such. Alumni from like the class of ’50 love to chat it up, so I enjoy it a lot. We listen to music and it is just really chill.

Also, the lock-in was Friday. This is an annual event, where from 8 till midnight you are locked in the campus center. But, it’s really fun, because there are so many events going on that the time just speeds past. I didn’t go (homework load was getting pretty big), but I heard it was awesome! People got hats spray painted and there was a mechanical bull. A friend said that her legs hurt so badly from trying to stay on. It was just all around good fun! Also, the really cool magician I thought was coming last Thursday is coming this Thursday so I wicked excited about that, because I looked him and he sounds pretty good.

I also went to this Christian concert, (this band called Rush of Fools) with the Christian group campus, Edge. That was really fun. Rush of Fools was a bunch of really hot guys and they were just awesome. They played before the Portland Pirates hockey game, but we ended up leaving in between and heading back to school. I love UNE because there is just a club for everyone and every club has so much to offer. That no matter what, with the campus wide events you can never get bored!!

That’s about it, sorry also about the lack of photos. I just have been really busy, but I promise to post a lot next week! If you have any specific questions about UNE don’t forget to e-mail me at mtushar@mail.une.edu
For all those who have asked me questions, thanks and I hope my answers sufficed!
: )
Talk to you later,
Marilyn

Hey guys! Firstly, I want to thank everyone who participated in the chats last week. It was really fun and I really enjoyed answering all of your questions!

What has been happening here in good ol' Maine?
Well, we had a long weekend so I went to Aubrey's. We watched movies and tried to sled. But, there wasn't a big enough hill. Here is an idea of how our sledding trip went:

As you can see, Aubrey is not moving... lol
and some photos of the weekend:

we were pretty excited to eat our hot chocolate after our cold sledding experience!

It is was so nice to eat some home cooked food and sleep in a bed that was firmly on the ground. Although, I love my dorm and everything, but sometimes its nice to get away for a bit.

Once, Aubrey and I got back we signed up for yoga and pilates classes (which are a few of the many free classes offered by UNE to students). Those start tommorow, so I'll let you know how that goes.. haha We also started swimming again. Which was so much, yet a little bit hard since we were so out of shape.

Then last Wednesday we went to the mall for sushi with friends. The Maine Mall is really nice and pretty close, so it very accessible to UNE students. Aubrey and I were a tad wary about sushi though, so we ate spaghetti and these amazing breadsticks!! Then as we were walking around trying on shoes and looking at make-up we somehow came to the conclusion to dye my hair, So, Aubrey and I headed back to UNE and our friends went and hair dye. We later met them at East (the junior suits that are so awseome. They have a living room, 4 bedrooms, a kitchen and 2 bathrooms with these huge vanitys and a tub!) They had picked a really dark brown that has a tad of golden highlights, so Liz dyed my hair while we watched America's Next Top Model. Then Jessie did my make-up and Aubrey photographed me. It was a little bizarre, because I am like the roll out of bed five minutes before class type of person. But, it was fun and I love my new hair! Aubrey took all the pictures, so I'll edit this blog with them once I get them.

I also rearranged my room. It took a lot of effort, but my desk is now totally different. I love it because you know the feeling of bordeom with a space. I was getting that and unable to concentrate and now it feels new and different, which it is, but that helps me like focus. You should try it if you are getting like a block...

isn't it cute?

As for this upcoming week I have my first yoga class and first pilates class and this magician is coming on Thursday, so I'll probably check that out. I might also go riding Wednesday.
So, talk to you later and please send questions if you have them! I am here to answer them! Oh and it just started snowing here again, so everyone cross their fingers for a snow day tomm! :)

seeya later,

      Hey guys!
So, wow it seems like a long time since we’ve spoken…or at least since I’ve written. But, in the mean time I saw more movies and made my way back to UNE.
My official Sweeny Todd rating would be 6, yes 6, stars. It was AWSEOME! Gory, but nothing could beat Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman singing. Plus, Helena Bonham Carter was so creepy and just awesome too! So, just go see it! And like I think I said before, go see Juno too, and both of their soundtracks rock!

When I went home I took the bus again and for the first time ever Greyhound was on time!! I was actually early to Boston (after an 8 hour trip to New York and 4.5 hour trip to Boston), but then I waited like 3 hours for a train to Saco, but even that was not too bad, I watched movies on my laptop. Then after a cab ride …boom I was back. It was so fun actually, because everyone was just running around and yelling and it was like, yes its dorm life again. My roommates and me exchanged gifts and we all played a game and watched a movie.

But, that was the fun part…. Dun dun dun…haha
The next morning I had an early class, which I dropped and I added two more and today I had another class, which I dropped and added a new one. But, I guess that’s a good aspect of UNE, they are wicked flexible. I have no clue what I want to do and yet, it’s no problem because the career lady is like totally cool. I am taking classes about teaching, politics and even linguistics! So, for sure I’ll find something I like, at least that is the idea!

So, yeah what’s next? Well, everyone is planning ski trips for tomorrow and Monday, because we might have a snow day tomorrow and Monday is Martin Luther King Day. But, after a very bad experience involving myself on skis, a shack and my head I have realized that I am not quite the skier type. This weekend I am going to my friend Aubrey’s and you know, just hanging out.

I guess right about now, you’ll be getting ready to do FAFSA, well good luck. It might be a pain, but it is super important, so stick with it and it’ll pay off in the end.

Also, I hope that you are finding my posts to be more interesting…I am trying to get better. I think that my more recent posts are better than my first ones, but I don’t really know, so why don’t you guys comment or e-mail me. (mtushar@mail.une.edu)
Tell me what you guys want to hear about, as far as happenings on campus and I’ll try to include them. Or if you have ANY questions, ask away. I am like the best person to ask, since I know what really goes on. Also, there is an admissions chat on Wednesday, January the 23rd between 6:30 and 8:30. So, I’ll be there answering questions as well as others, so come and ask about life here at UNE!

And in conclusion, here are some pictures of the white weather we have been having!

oh wait and here is some of the pictures I wanted to post last time, but could not due to technical difficulties. Its of my family and friends over vacation.

my mom and my brother at the zoo

and more technical difficulties so that's all... okay well have a nice week and again don't forget about FAFSA! It's important!

Later,
Marilyn
