CLASSES ARE OVER, FINALS ARE OVER

Today marks a really exciting day: finals and classes are over. First semester as a junior was a lot of fun and hard work, but I am glad it's over. Now I have a break from classes until May! I am so excited to be on co-op! I have been waiting for this day all year. My finals weren't too bad. I studied really hard for them so hopefully the results will show! Everyone is going home for Christmas break, but I am actually going to be here until Christmas Eve Day. I have to work up until then, which isn't bad and it will keep me busy. As far as Christmas, I am going crazy trying to get all of my shopping done. I am not quite there yet because I have been so busy with school, finals, and work. Well, I hope everyone has an excellent break and a great Christmas!

CELTICS!

Every so often, Wentworth gets a bunch of tickets to either the Bruins or the Celtics. It's always a race to line the day they go on sale because Wentworth charges $25.00 per ticket, which is a great deal! My boyfriend and I got there relatively early and we were 8th in the line. We planned on taking his two younger brothers for a Christmas present. We got four seats right in row, which was very lucky. I was very excited to go because they were playing the Indiana Pacers, which is a really good team and they had beat the Celtics prior to this game. It was an awesome game that the Celtics ended up winning! There were a lot of Wentworth students in our section so it was definitly a lot of fun.
We went to Regina Pizza in the North End before the game. We ordered a large and a small pizza, but they messed up on one of them. The chef came out and told us we were getting another small pizza for free! After this, we went to Mike's Pastry and got dessert. Needless to say, we were very full! It was a lot of fun and I am very happy Wentworth supplies these tickets!

Happy Thanksgiving!

So there is a week left of classes and then it's finals! We have a lot of projects and presentations due, but at the end of the week it will all be worth it. I cannot wait until Christmas vacation and the best part is I don't have to worry about coming back to classes because I will be doing my first co-op! My Thanksgiving went well; I had a well-needed three day break. I had my dad's side of the family over, which was fun because I haven't seen anyone for a couple months now. My parents made so much food: turkey, sweet potatoes, salad, asparagus, stuffing, apple pie, pumpkin pie, etc. I ate way too much food, but that is always the case after this holiday. It was a very relaxing day that I needed.
I went shopping on Black Friday, but I wasn't standing in line at 4:00 a.m. I just don't have the patience at that time of morning to fight over certain deals. I started later in the afternoon and to my suprise it wasn't busy at all. I got all the shopping done that I needed to and I can honestly say I am all ready for Christmas. Our Christmas decorations are up and the tree is up, which is something my mom had accomplished even before Thankgiving happened. I think Thanksgiving is often overlooked because people get so excited for Chistmas. The malls were all decorated well before Thanksgiving even occurred. One thing I did notice this year was that the malls aren't as packed as they were last year. With the current economic condition, I think people are watching what they spend and only getting things that are practical. Well I have a busy week ahead of me and lots of studying to do!

It's COLD!

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't wrote in awhile, I have been very busy. The election was a crazy time around Boston. As soon as Obama was elected, people were rioting down Huntington Ave. I felt like the Red Sox won the World Series again, it was crazy. People just ran directly down the road so there was no room for cars to even drive at all. It was complete chaos down in the Northeastern area and I was lucky to be right in the middle of it seeing how I live in the middle of the campus! It's the end of the semester so it's all projects and tests. I am so excited for it to be over and then it's off to co-op! In my marketing class, our final project is to market a place, business, club, etc. I chose the Cheesecake Factory because it's my favorite restaurant. I love not only the entree's there, but also the best part is their variety of cheesecakes. My favorite is the cookie dough! It's almost Thanksgiving though so I am very happy. It's nice to go home and be with your family and it's always wonderful to have a little break from school. I always feel more energized when I come back from a break. Since Thanksgiving in next week, that means Christmas is around the corner. I love Christmas shopping. I walked down to the Prudential building to start some shopping and they have amazing decorations. Their is a huge ornament at the entrance of the building and everyone was taking pictures with it! The mall was so busy with people who love to get their shopping done early. There are so many sales it's crazy. I always go out on Black Friday with my mom to get all the deals. It's hectic, but it's also fun too and it's been our special thing to do for awhile.
Also, I have found my co-op, which is a huge relief. I am going to continue working at my current job, Campus Tan. I am very exciting to learn more about the aspect of business and there's no one better to learn it from than my boss. He just has a knack for running business' and I am going to learn a lot from him. I am very thankful for that. I am all registered for co-op and the next matter of business is to finish my agreement form and attach a job description.
As far as the weather, it is freezing out!!! Yesterday was the first day the winter hat had to come out. Boston tends to get very cold in the winter, but it also gets very hot in the summer so it's a trade off. As long as you bring a warm jacket, hat, gloves, and scarf, you will survive the Boston weather! After I walked out of my apartment this morning, I definitely see snow in the forecast soon. As I walked to class, everyone was bundled up head to toe! Well, that is all for now. I hope everyone is surviving the cold weather!

HALLOWEEN

One of the most anticipated holidays has just passed: Halloween. Everyone in Boston spends weeks trying to find or put together the best costumes. Even though Halloween is only on the 31st, it usually ends up a three or four day celebration with different costumes each day. This year there were some great costumes: cheerleaders, indians, spice girls, teachers and the joker. The joker was the most popular costume this year because of the movie the Dark Knight. I must have seen at least ten people in the joker costume, it was great. As far as myself, I dressed up as Sporty Spice. My four other friends and I had this planned since the day after Halloween last year. It was really fun and we pulled it off very well as you can see in the photo below.

I am not quite sure what next year will bring as far as my costume, but I will continue planning until then!

Classes are going well. Midterm grades came out a couple weeks ago, which was a relief. The Celtics have started their season very strong of coarse. The opening ceremony to raise banner number 17 was awesome. Paul Pierce was very emotional and it was just such a great feeling. I can't wait to go to a lot of games this year!

Well hope everything is going well & I can't wait to come back and talk about the election results~!

BACK TO SCHOOL

Hey everyone! I can't believe first semester is half way done. I have taken two midterms already and have three more to go! Everything has been going by so quickly and here's what has been going on with me.

First off, I lived in Boston all summer and worked at Campus Tan, which is a local tanning salon located on Huntington Ave. & Mass Ave. I am currently still working there and it's a great experience. I have learned how to deal with the public better and I have gotten better at my sales skills! Everyone moved back to school in September and since then it's been crazy! I live off-campus in an apartment close by to Wentworth. I live alone so I don't have any of those crazy stories about fighting over the bathroom, mirror, shower, etc. My classes this semester are going smoothly. My favorites are Marketing & Group Processes & Team Building. My marketing class is all about being innovative. We get to create powerpoints about cities, people, & products. In these powerpoints, we provide different marketing strategies that portray the best way to sell and market the product or person. It's a lot of fun! In my Group Processes & Team Building class, we learn a lot about interaction within groups. This is a helpful tactic because out in the work field, you will be working in groups a ton. Not everyone has the same emotions and feelings so you need to learn the best ways to adapt to others in order to make your group productive.

Also, tommorrow basketball finally starts! Everyone has worked very hard in their pre-season workouts and tryouts begin tommorrow. Unfortunatly, I am currently out of commission. I have a stress fracture in my foot. I am trying to get better very quickly so I can start getting back into the swing of things. I am very excited for the upcoming season and I can't wait for our first game, which is a month from tommorrow. We have been doing a lot of fundraising for basketball because we are heading to the Bahamas in December for a Christmas tournament. Lots and lots of time will be dedicated to fundraising until then!

I wish I could write more, but midterm studying is calling my name and also the Red Sox game tonight is calling my name as well! I have to get my studying done so I can watch the game! Hopefully they beat Tampa Bay tonight! GO SOX! Hopefully you have enjoyed reading my experiences so far!
