To the end of the WORLD

Mood: Content

So I am doing this program called the SHOWA Connection which is when you are paired with 2 or 3 girls who have come from Japan to study in America. The are all English majors, and all girls, and all required to come here for a minimum of 5 months or can stay for the longer term of 15 months. So basically you are hooked up with them and have to hang out 5 times.

The first time you go to there school which is called SHOWA Boston where they feed you breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You play games, learn origami, how to write in Japanese, and even get dressed up in traditional Japanese clothing. It is so much fun and the girls are crazy nice. It is also so funny how much you have in common as well as how incredibly different they are.

Then on the second visit my three girls, Anna, Ayano, and Mayue came to Wentworth and attended class with me. I don't think they enjoyed it that much because it was lecture and I don't think they really understood what we were talking about. But afterwards we took a walk down to a church to help explain to them what we learned in class. Then to lunch at Mass Art and finally to my dorm to meet all my roommates.

Finally, for our third visit we had a blast!!! They came last friday and basically we had a dance party with everything from the Cotton Eyed Joe to Soulja Boy to Hannah Montana to Numa Numa to Japanese Idol. Lets just say it was an interesting night. I think they had fun and they really broke out of their shell and danced too. Props to my suitemates for helping. Then off to dinner at Beatty where we all sat quietly because we were exhausted from dancing for 3 hours. And finally the freezing trek back to the T stop where we had perfect timing and the T pulled up just as we got there.

So far we have one more visit on December 7th which is going to be sad because they will be going back to Japan soon after that. We are going to a Wentworth Hockey game with another SHOWA Connector and his 2 girls. It has been fun and an incredible experience. I truely made 3 new friends and am going to miss them

Ok so as you all know Hall-o-ween was recently, ok so maybe not that recently because I am alittle behind but you know how it is. The days literally fly by and before you know it its almost the end of the semester. But anyway this Halloween was quite exciting to say the least which is why I MUST tell you about it.

On the Saturday before it BAGLY (Boston's Alliance for Gay and Lesbian Youth) holds an annual Halloween dance which to be honest I have been looking forward to going since well last year when I first heard about it. Its basically a giant costume party..and whose gonna pass that up? Not me!! So I got all dressed up in one of my costumes, I was a nurse, but not a slutty one it was actually very cute!

Then I walked down to Best Buy and met up with my friend Megan, who I knew from back home (New Jersey) and presently attends Wheelock and about 4 of her other friends all of which I must meantion were straight hence the "Alliance" part. We also met up with Dylan and ran into a few other familiar faces while we were there. But after boarding the T, dancing in the streets with some old people, running around like nuts, we finally got there. Checked our bags in, stuffed our tickets down our shirts, and yes I mean WE, including Aaron, and ran for a good spot on the dance floor. Oh by the way Aaron is one of Megan's friend from school who if you haven't figured it out yet is also gay, he was a genie and let me just tell you he looked awesome!

Now don't get me wrong when I say good spot, I don't mean on the side or in the back...I MEANNNN in the VERY MIDDLE of the action and or ON STAGE! Oh yes we were shakin our bon bons on stage. We were rocking out the whole night! It was soooo much fun. But the funny thing about these dances are YOU HAVE to just keep dancing because you honestly don't know whose straight, gay, guy, girl, both, neither. So you just dance and you don't even think about it because in reality does it even matter?

Shouldn't that just be how life is anyway; when you don't judge or analyze everyone and everything you just dance. You just close your eyes and feel the rhythm of the music, you open them and you laugh with your friends, you glance over and see a million people doing exactly the same. You kiss, you move, you jump, and sing, and swing, and sweat, and laugh, and have fun. And when its finally all over you end up in the same place as everyone else; in line to check out.

Now think about that.
