Finals and Home Sweet Home (california)

Greetings from the new terminal 5 at JFK airport on my way home from college. I'm originally from California and I'm going home to spend some time with the family and go skiing. This actually isn't all I'm doing during my vacation as I am also going to Florida with my girlfriend.

This semester was long and hard. Finals finally are over and don't have to think about them any longer. This semester I learned what not to do when it comes to class work and school. I thought I could blow right by w/o putting a whole lot of effort into it. I was however not able to do that. I am now learning what it means to be a year behind my entire class. I am though going to continue with the major but just to be a year behind.

This isn't meant to scare any of you. This is just a reminder that it does happen especially if u don't put it the full effort. I definitely learned that one the hard way but oh well I will learn for the next time.

Finals did go really bad and unfortunately probably will only pass one class this semester. Yes it really was that bad and I had two drop two other classes. It happens but I learned what not to do and I hope everyone who reads this does to and learns from these mistakes.

Finally, I'm so happy to be going home and being able to see my family. Also I get to teach skiing this winter break before Florida along side my sister who is teaching snowboarding for the first time this winter. This winter break will be a good and can't wait. My upcoming blogs are going to be about a SJ sharks game, skiing and Florida. Then it will be time to start the next semester.

Hope everyone has a happy holidays.

Engineers and New Toys

Every engineer I know of including myself love gadget and toys. Thinkway after many delays has finally released there version of a Wall-e. This Wall-e can make 8 different gestures that he made in the movie like being happy, scared or surprised as well as others. He moves his arms, legs (treads) and his eyes when he makes these different faces. He also has sensors on the front and back to allow him to know where he is and not to run into things.

I started playing with him the first second I got him. I got him to move around avoiding objects like chairs and desk making faces as he is doing it. He is 16 inches tall and is so cute. He also has exploration mode and follow you mode while making sure he is not hitting anything.

This is what happens when engineers get toys, they love to play with them even if they are expensive.

Six Flags Fright Fest During Columbus Weekend

Three of my friends and I went to Six Flags New England during their Fright Fest on the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend. It was a nice break from school. I went with a Wentworth alum (Melissa Jo Brown), a current Wentworth student (Nico Colosi), and a graduate from UMaine (Katie Dyer). Katie and I tried to go on as many rides as we could. Nico went on a couple of rides with us and Melissa was just there to hang out.
Melissa and I have season passes and so we have been like 4 times this year already. It was a nice time to go during their Fight Fest since it was my second time going to Fright Fest at a Six Flags but my first one at the New England amusement park. We had so much fun. We were able to get a nice break from classes or work depending on who it was.
Katie and I went on Superman 4 times, Batman once, Mind Easer once, Pandemonium twice, and cyclone once. We had what is known as a gold flash pass which made life so much easier there and gave us a chance to go on so many more rides. Also Nico and I were able to do their Haunted House and Wicked Woods areas. Again it was relaxing, fun and an all around good time with friends. Try and get their for Fight Fest, it will be a blast.

Back to Campus, Midterms, and Fall Season

It’s so nice coming back to campus. I love being able to see old friends and starting off the new semester. Last semester, during the summer, most students decide between sophomore and junior year to get some kind of job or their optional Co-op. I decided to take classes to get caught up and get ahead. That semester went really well. This semester I was hoping going to be the same.
Classes have started and were just got to the midpoint of the semester. I can’t believe we are already there, it feels like the semester is just starting. Classes are going well and I seem to get tests ever 3 weeks or so which are so important because they are usually the biggest percentage of the final grade. These next two weeks are when professors like to give out that second test which will be usually 3 to 4 for the entire semester.
This time of the year is always fun for me. I get to start watching hockey again when the season starts. Coming from California I do watch the San Jose Sharks which I love to watch the games. Also it’s the time of the year that I know that ski season is right around the corner. I’ve been skiing in California for over 13 years and going into my second season this year of teaching it. I love the sport and I love this time of the year because I do know that it’s right around the corner.
I hope to update it with my skiing in December, DisneyWorld for the first time in January, and how classes are going both this semester and next. Check back soon.
