As you walk out of your calculus class one day, you say to yourself: what can I do to make an impact on the students on and off campus? One perfect example is to become a student leader. Titles range from Orientation Leaders to the widely known Resident Assistant. Of course those are just two of many offered here at Wentworth.

Interested? Well here’s an overview on how to become a WIT Student Leader. You MUST attend a mandatory information session in order to apply. Next, you go online and do the required resume and essays. Don't fret over the writing you have the Career Center and tutoring available to you. After those are done, you fill out the online application (and make sure you attach the essays and resume otherwise the application will be voided). Group Process day comes next where your leadership skills and knowledge will be tested in various activities. Finally comes the all important interview with faculty and current student leaders. If they like what they see, you are on your way.

I have applied for any position involving the new Summer Orientation or the WOW (Wentworth Opening Week) event that’s scheduled before classes begin in the fall. Group Process day is tomorrow and so is my 2:30 pm interview. Wish me luck, oh and Happy Valentines Day!

I owe all of a ton of apologies for not updating back in January so to make it up to you I will do two entries.

To start things off I suppose I should play catch up so here's what’s happened so far. I have entered the second semester of my sophomore year here at Wentworth and, just like high school, it continually gets more challenging. Despite the fact that I only get up at 8 in the morning once a week, my Strength of Materials class goes into the early evening hours and it just drags on and on.

On a lighter note, my CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) class is pretty fun. My first big project was to write a code for a Gantry machine so it could cut a design into a wood block. Being mechanically inclined I chose the Scion car logo. After hours of tweaking in AutoCAD I was able to convert the .dxf file into G-code which I loaded into the machine and poof, instant A+.

The last part of this entry goes to all you prospective students. As I said before class will get more difficult as the years go by and you’ll have to adjust your personal schedules as such. Take me for example, I have not been out on as many walks as I have been before, but maybe it’s due to the wintry weather we’ve been having, difficult to say.
