Last Blog for the Semester!

Hey everyone,

This will be my last blog for the semester, as classes are ending this week. This means the start of finals though, which will be stressful. I have exams in 5 of my classes so I have a lot of studying to do. It will all be over in a week so I can't wait.

To fill you in on what's been happening the last couple weeks, I participated in two PSC class projects, one of which was our freshman project. I mentioned in the last blog about the freshman class holding a senior citizens prom. I thought this event went very well and was very successful. We had a good amount of people who attended and everyone seemed to have a great time. The other event was the March of Dimes last Saturday. This was the sophomore class project. That was a lot of fun too and it was for a good cause as well, which was nice.
Other than that I have just been trying to keep up with all my work since the semester is coming to an end quickly.

On that note, I'll start to wrap up my last blog. I hope you guys have enjoyed reading my blogs over these past few weeks. Hopefully you have gained a better understanding of campus life and some of the activities on campus. Have a great summer everyone and maybe I'll even see some of you on campus next year!

Race for Chase & other events

This past weekend was the Race for Chase. For anyone who doesn't know Chase is a student at Widener who was injured in a fire. The event was held in order to raise money for him. Although the weather wasn't too nice, (rainy and cold) the event was great. We had many people participating in the 5K run/walk as well as volunteers just helping to organize the event. Overall, the race was very successful and it was a great way to show support for another Widener student.

Except for that event over the weekend, there won't be all too much going on this week. It is going to be a fairly easy week considering two of my classes were cancelled, including one of my labs, which means one less lab report to write this week. I am also going to the greenhouse again this Saturday, which should be pretty cool. Next week, however, will be a lot fun. On the 17th I am going to the Flyers playoff game. I'm really excited for that because I am a huge flyers fan so I'm looking forward to going to the game. Then the Saturday after that is the last Widener Day as well as our freshmen PSC class project. For our project, we decided to put on a senior citizens prom and invite a group of seniors to campus for dinner and some music. As you can see, next week will be really busy but a lot of fun.

I'll keep you guys updated on how things are going over the next few weeks.

Spring Break

Well classes began again yesterday after having last week off for spring break. It was nice to be able to relax for a week and not have to worry about school. I worked most of the week though. I volunteer at a greenhouse near my home to fulfill my service hours for PSC. I also work part time at a restaurant. I worked mostly during the day so I had late afternoons/nights to have fun and enjoy the break. A few of my friends from high school were on spring break too so I got to see them as well. We went out to dinner a couple nights and then just hung out at one of our houses.

This weekend should be a lot of fun too. I’m going down to D.C. with two of my friends from high school to visit our friend. His spring break is actually next week so we’re going down Friday night, spending the night, then taking him back with us Saturday afternoon. I’m pretty excited for this because I haven’t seen him in a few months and it will be a nice change of pace from this week, which has already been the worst week of the semester and it’s not even half over.

This week is also honors week, which is a series of events and lectures throughout each day this week on campus. I plan on attending 2-3 events this week. I want to go to two student presentations and then a jazz quartet recital tomorrow night. I used to be in a jazz ensemble in high school so that should be fun.

Well that’s about it for now. I have a chemistry test to study for. I’ll keep you guys updated within the next few weeks!

Busy few weeks

These last two weeks have been extremely busy for me. I have three labs this semester with the lab reports all due within two days of each other. Then I have my usual homework as well as tests and quizzes scattered throughout the days. Needless to say I haven't had too much time to relax or even sleep the past two weeks. The weekends have been better though. I do work at a restaurant so I usually work a few hours there over the weekend. Other than that I've just been hanging out with friends and trying to find some time to have fun. But spring break is in two more weeks so I really can't wait for that. I'm sure I'll find plenty of things to do then including catching up on all my lost sleep. Well that's enough complaining for now, I have some physics homework to do. Bye everyone!

My first entry

Hey everybody!

I'll start off by introducing myself a little bit. I am a freshman at Widener and I am a mechanical engineering and physics major. I'm from South Harrison, NJ, which is only about twenty minutes away from Widener. I am involved in the Honors program as well as the Presidential Service Corps, which is a community service-based organization. My hobbies mainly consist of playing/watching hockey and surfing during the summer.

After the first few weeks of school I'm finally back into the swing of things. My classes this semester include Italian, physics, calculus, chemistry and engineering graphics. But this semester is actually not as tough as last semester. The work is harder but I don't have as much homework so that's good.

That's pretty much all that's going on right now. As some more interesting things happen I'll keep you guys updated.
