Sticky Fly

Hi everyone!

The semester is going pretty well. I'm starting to get into the routine of things. There's already a lot going on this semester. Next weekend will be homecoming and I'm really excited because we're going to have COLIN and BRAD from Whose Line is it Anyways. This past weekend we had a Step Show and a Debate Watch on campus. On Monday, I got to see STEVE FORBES at the Philadelphia Speaker Series presented by Widener University. I had an AMAZING time. A few students and I had a picture taken with him.

On Wednesday, there was a fundraiser event from ASB (Alternative Spring Break). This event was called Sticky Fly. Students and faculty paid a dollar for a yard of tape to tape the person to the wall to see how long the person would last.

Jason Britton from our admissions office volunteered to be the person to be taped to the wall.

This was the way he was before I left to class.

The organization made about 60 dollars within that hour. Good luck to ASB!

China

So this past summer I went to China with seven other Widener students. We stayed in Chongqing, China for about a month and Shanghai for a few days. This exchange was offered to the Business and Social Work students. Chongqing Technology & Business University (CTBU) is the school in China that Widener is affiliated with that help created this opportunity. The program was called The 2008 CTBU Study and Culture Tour. The trip was fully sponsored by Pacific Millennium and Widener. This trip was an incredible experience! We learned so much about the culture, society, and the wonderful people.

There were so much that we learned and did within the short period of time. We were even there during the earthquake. We were not affected by the earthquake but some of us did feel it.
Overall, this was a once in a life time experience. We all left with unforgettable memories, life long lessons, and lasting friendships.

Phillies Opening Night

So on Wednesday, April 2nd, The Widener Activities Council (WAC) sponsored a trip to the Phillies game. This was my first Phillies game. I was excited but upset at the same time because the Phillies lost. Tickets were only 15 dollars (transportation included). It was dollar dog night and everyone got a free t-shirt. I spared my last dollar on a ticket, but it was worth it even though it was FREEZING.

Here are some pictures from that night:

Widener Day Jan. 26, 2008

This past weekend was our second Widener Day of the year. It was also the coldest Widener Day of the year. This open house allow students and families to meet with faculty from their departments, admissions and other offices on campus. People got a tour and had a free lunch. It's worth waking up early for. Come to the next Widener Day if you haven't already!

Men's Basketball Game

Hey Everyone!

The past week was the start of our Spring semester. A lot has been going on within the week though. On Thursday night 1/17/08 there was the basketball game versus Valley Forge Christian. It was a close game but Widener had the lead the whole time. Not to brag or anything but the team is now 14-1. Yes, that means 14 wins and 1 loss.

Even President Harris goes the games to show his support!

Here are some pics that I took at the game. Come to our game if you want to see what a winning team looks like! Enjoy!
